Yes, even though they are both very hard wearing and ideal for kitchen work surfaces, they both have the ability to be scratched, when using the wrong objects on them.
we would always advise using a chopping board or working block.
you must avoid putting extremely hot objects directly on to your quartz surfaces, as this can mark the material and cause it to crystallise.
We would always advise using pan stands to protect your surfaces.
Although due to its unpourous nature, quartz is considered ”stain proof“, unsightly marks can still appear from dark coloured liquids such as tea/coffee/red wine/curry & metal marks may appear over time from cutlery or appliances.
Scale can also build up around sink areas, leaving discolouration.
the best way to treat these occurrences is with a mildly abrasive scouring pad and cleaner, like “The pink stuff” , “Cif” or “Bar keepers friend“
Work a small amount of the cleaning product in circular motions with the scouring pad over the affected area… buff off dry with kitchen roll or a tea towel.
The answers to these questions largely depend on the type of material chosen.
Natural stone i.e granite/ marble, the block size would determine the slab size so varies, but can go up to lengths of 3.5m.
Quartz on the other hand is man made and therefore tends to come in a standard size, which is 1.4 m X 3m and a jumbo slab measures 1.6m X 3.2 and some suppliers also stock “super jumbos” if you really want to go large, which are 2m X 3.5m.
*Please note-
Most stone is natural and tones may differ slightly, samples can be sent out, or full slabs can be viewed by appointment with our suppliers
